We are delighted that you are considering Kopela Primary School for your child's education. As a Quintile 2 No Fee school, we are committed to making quality primary education accessible to all learners in Kopela Village and surrounding communities.

Our school admits learners from Grade R through to Grade 7, following the South African Schools Act admission policies. We welcome all learners regardless of background and are dedicated to creating an inclusive environment where every child can flourish.

Grade Levels

We offer education from Grade R through Grade 7, covering the Foundation and Intermediate Phases.

Grade R (Reception Year)

Age: Turning 5 by 30 June. A play-based learning year preparing children for formal schooling with a focus on early literacy, numeracy, and social skills.

Grades 1–3 (Foundation Phase)

Ages 6–9. Building core reading, writing, and mathematical foundations. Home language instruction with introduction to English as first additional language.

Grades 4–6 (Intermediate Phase)

Ages 9–12. Expanded curriculum including Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Technology, and additional languages. Preparing learners for senior phase.

Grade 7 (Senior Primary)

The final primary school year, consolidating knowledge and preparing learners for the transition to secondary school with strong academic foundations.

  • Completed application form (available at the school office)
  • Certified copy of the learner's birth certificate
  • Certified copy of parent/guardian's ID document
  • Proof of residence in the school's feeder area
  • Immunisation card / Road to Health booklet
  • Transfer card from previous school (if applicable)
  • Latest school report card (for transfers)
  • Two recent passport-sized photographs of the learner

Application Process

Follow these steps to enrol your child at Kopela Primary School.

Step 1: Enquiry

Visit or contact the school office to express your interest and receive an application form. Call 063 707 8930 for information.

Step 2: Submit Application

Complete the application form and submit it along with all required documents to the school administration office.

Step 3: Review & Assessment

The school reviews your application and may conduct a readiness assessment for Grade R and Grade 1 applicants.

Step 4: Acceptance

Successful applicants receive an acceptance letter. Parents are invited to an orientation session at the school.

Step 5: Orientation & Enrolment

Attend the parent orientation meeting, complete final enrolment paperwork, and receive the school uniform and stationery requirements list.

Fees & Important Dates

No Fee School

Kopela Primary School is classified as a Quintile 2 No Fee School by the Department of Basic Education. This means:

  • No tuition fees are charged to parents or guardians
  • The school is fully funded by government allocation
  • Learning and teaching support materials are provided
  • A National School Nutrition Programme meal is provided daily

Parents may be requested to contribute towards optional items such as school uniforms, stationery, and extracurricular activities, but these are not compulsory and no learner will be excluded for non-payment.
